CPA Exam Score Notice Missing or Disappeared: How to Find It

Your CPA Exam score and your Score Notice are not the same thing. The score can appear first, while the official Score Notice becomes available later.

What is the Score Notice?

The Score Notice is the official document associated with your CPA Exam result. It can include the section score, credit information, and for failed sections, the Candidate Performance Report.

Where do you find it?

For participating NASBA Portal jurisdictions, open the CPA Portal and look next to the score once the notice becomes available. NASBA describes an eye icon used to view, download, and print the notice.

Why is the score there but the notice is not?

Because the advisory score and Score Notice can post at different times. NASBA currently says the Score Notice can take up to approximately 72 hours after the advisory score appears.

What if it has been more than 72 hours?

Check the current jurisdiction procedure, then contact the applicable support channel if necessary.

Not every jurisdiction works exactly the same way

Some jurisdictions report through their own Board process. Follow your jurisdiction's procedure instead of assuming every candidate's Portal looks identical.

Why did my Score Notice disappear?

Score Notices are not stored indefinitely. The Portal can show a “score available until” date. After that, the notice may no longer be accessible through the Portal.

Download the Score Notice when it appears.

What if you need an old notice?

A Score Reprint may be available after the original notice is no longer accessible. Availability and process can depend on jurisdiction.

Where is the Candidate Performance Report?

If you failed a section, the Candidate Performance Report is accessed through the Score Notice. It is not issued for passing sections.

What if the performance report is missing?

The same posting delay can apply. Allow the normal Score Notice window first, then follow up if it remains unavailable.

Save failed Score Notices especially

The Candidate Performance Report can help you plan a retake by showing performance information across content areas and question types.

Score Notice vs score release

The score release page answers when the number arrives. This page answers where the official document appears afterward.

Score Notice vs credit

If you are planning around an expiration deadline, confirm official credit status and jurisdiction rules separately.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • If the score just came out, allow the posting window.
  • If the notice used to exist, check whether the availability date passed.
  • If you failed, look for the Candidate Performance Report through the notice.
  • If it remains missing, contact the applicable support process.
  • If an old notice is needed, ask about a Score Reprint.

The takeaway

Score first → Score Notice later.

Once the notice appears, download it. The Portal is not permanent document storage.
